Earth.

In the cold, impassive eyes of the serpent there is no pain and no regret. And in the mesmerizing patterns of its skin — as if in a trance — I see the code of the portal’s location.
 Mother of Serpents, for millions of years you have basked in the sun, and the ancient poison has thickened within your rough, dry body. You are ready to share it with me so I may heal material attachments. Liberation is approaching — release from the body of the past, from the desires that have already died. I long to shed my coverings like a serpent — I need a profound transition. It will resurrect my soul and give birth to new worlds.

I call upon the Priest of Egypt for assistance; he knows much about mortal transitions. He understands that death is not the end and will accompany me into a new experience. He will take my hand as though he were my Father. Pearls of constellations are woven into his headdress, his strong gaze is calm, and his mind serene. His soul has long been free from everything worldly, fleeting, or sinful — from all that drags the lost into the abyss.

And like wine, I drink the poison from a golden chalice adorned with opals, garnets, and turquoise. My hand did not tremble. Now the body dances a wild, drunken dance, my eyes burn, and nothing else is given. Farewell — my soul has taken flight upward.
